Autographs before the game...

Hey all

The bairn has been pestering me all year to get some players autographs. Finally this weekend the stars have aligned and I'm going to be able to get there early enough to have a go. He's got a little autograph book for his birthday, no shirts or memorabilia or out like that.

I was thinking getting to the west stand entrance for about 12. But I read on Reddit that the players are "locked in" when they arrive.

I've not done this since roker park. Any collected wisdom on here about how to go about it? Or is it literally just wait at west stand entrance ?

Cheers

could you try going in the ground dead early and hoping to catch them coming out for the warm up down by the tunnel ?

i sometimes see kids/parents hanging around the entrance to the academy during half term, but that would be a long day and total pot luck

The last players autograph I got was cec urwin, we went up to the training ground when it was in washy.
And him and monty, were walking off the pitch. I got cec urwins, he passed the book to monty, but the bloody pen ran out, and so I never got his.
Happy days😉.

@Grimes is experienced at nabbing an autograph, he'll offer sound advice.

I had to get a program signed by the players back in the middle 70s. Monty signed whilst he had a ciggie sticking out of his gob.
Didn't knew he smoked till then.

I'm not risking my Chris Maguire bobblehead for the sake of a few autographs 🤣🤣

Took my kids to one of the SOL open days. Players doing photos and autographs

They all like Chinese food too. Makes you think

And I darent even contemplate the hand holding of mascots

Long time ago, but I used to take mine to the Charlie Hurley, then the "new" Academy. They got loads of autographs and pics. Presumably you can still get autographs there as they leave training, about 1pm probably. Ask the Security men at the entrance. Does the OP live locally?

Just back was a pretty good success! As you said, players generally go down one side so you have a 50/50 chance. We got lucky though and definitely got the better deal.

In total the bairn got about 8 or 9. Amad was the only player to hang around out of the united team.

Alderete was class and the only one to do both sides. But the players were class especially sadiki who took all the time in the world. Obvs the club captain o'nien was an absolute charmer and spent yonks as well

On the way back down to the Times under the Alexandra, up the bairn said "dad, we'll never forget this day forever will we?" .... And that's what it's all about. Isn't it?

Don't suppose you clocked what time they were coming out? My lad is desperate for some signatures and given we stayed after the final whistle only to be sat in a car park for 35 mins, might give this a go. Thanks
