I love watching cricket. But I genuinely have never watched the IPL. Not because I have some hatred for it, I just cant get excited by it.

I know you like to go on fishing trips to put down test cricket and England at every possible opportunity, but you are seriously kidding yourself if you think that the top players save themselves for the IPL for any reason other than money. With the exception of a couple of sloggers and slingers, most players who do it see it just as an easy money spinner that doesn't involve doing much real work. The seriousness of competition is on a par with Sunday afternoon village cricket, the only difference being that instead of the aim being to finish the game quickly to get into the pub, it's to earn as much money in the shortest space of time possible.
While England, Australia and South Africa take the test game as seriously as they do, it will always be the pinnacle of the sport, no matter where any of the 3 of them are in the rankings and no matter how much money anyone else throws at the white ball game.
