Australia v England, 3rd Test, 16th December , 23.30

There's always that hope that in one innings Australia will have a shocker and collapse but they are just too good for it to happen.

Any slim hope we had of winning the Ashes has definitely gone now.

I never expected us to be so bad. Australia had injuries, we had our squad that was nurtured for this series.

But what will it all mean in the coming months.
  • Complete change of philosophy with new coach/captain
  • Continuation of philosophy same coach/captain but new players
  • Continuation of philosophy but with new coach/captain.
Personally I think Stokes has to stay as captain but McCullum needs replacing. We need to find a consistent and new top 3. As for bowlers, I'm at a loss, we haven't had a spinner since Swann and the bowling this tour has been woeful. As for philosophy, It needs to be replaced with a more measured approach. I really am baffled where English cricket is going....4 years wasted I think.

Christ man what a dire selection Jacks was.
Jack Leach has 142 test wickets at 34
Jack Leach has 545 first class wickets at 27.6
Jack Leach 50 division 1 wickets this season at 22.7
Rehan Ahmed has 23 wickets this season at 19
Rehan Ahmed has 78 first class wickets at 37
Rehan Ahmed has 5 first class centuries at 76 this season

Will Jacks 49 first class wickets at 42 in his entire career
Will Jacks has 4 red ball centuries in entire career

Stokes and McCullum are ideologically aligned though. They’re fundamentally tied to each other. I don’t see how one can survive in a leadership position with the other not.

I think we’re seeing Stokes’s last series as an England player let alone captain.
