Australia v England, 3rd Test, 16th December , 23.30

I don’t think that’s necessarily applicable today. Crawley, Root, Brook and Jacks were all got out with good bowling and tactics. Smith wasn’t out IMO (though shot was poor).

Pope’s was awful.

Pope.
Not playing a spinner.
Reliance on some lower order player being one of the top scorers.

Australia are a decent side but by no means brilliant.

I think that is what makes this more disappointing.

Lyon and Cummins world class bowlers but we had a massive opportunity first two tests with the bowlers the Aussies put out in them two tests to take advantage of a weaker Aussie side.

And blow it big style

I think it’s canny funny now😂

Australia haven’t been at their best in any of the tests so far and we’ve still not laid a glove.

Crawley, Pope, Smith & Carse all finished as test players.

Must admit, this really does seem like a Jolly Boys outing.

There is no excuse for not taking in practice matches or hitting the nets when they have been as poor as they have.

If each of the two each tests had gone to the forth or fifth day then you could allow them some leeway.

Watching them hit the beach or walking around a golf course on days where they should be playing is pretty annoying as a fan and especially for those who have spent money to go.

They should not be allowed free time on scheduled test match days that have been missed because the match is finished.

There is no way mind that Smith is finished as a test player, he has bags of talent.

He will come again while agreeing he has terrible series.

Others I agree

Snick:lol:

That's the key, those players aren't capable so are trying something else.

Yup. I've said I don't particularly thing this is a great Australia side, we are just so so poor.

I referred back earlier to the bowling graphic of Boland bowling to Jacks and easily 90% were a line which forced the batter into having to defend himself. Now compare that to both our opening new ball spells today and yesterday and it's absolutely miles apart with us bowling short/5th stump 95% of the time with only 1 ball on the stumps in the 1st 7 overs yesterday. Few people got excited cos Archer bowled a maiden for example which in reality was the batters just not entertaining anything daft early and and happy to see the ball go soft. It still absolutely amazes me that Carse got a central ball contract, I guess it's all about the "Bazball Pathway" and quite frankly it's absolutely laughable, he might be a Durham lad but he's not good enough for this level yet, he's very fortunate to have what he has in terms of the contract.

It's absolutely disgraceful how bad this lot are. I have to give Stokes credit again with the bat, knuckled down and got stuck in, only Archer following him, like previously I have really only seen Jacks and Root follow him with the bat in parts. However regarding Stokes with his captaincy, he needs to get stronger with his bowling picks. Not sure how much influence he has on team selection but when he's on that field he has to take a lot of responsibility.

Crawley - 19 balls
Duckett - 30 balls
Pope - 10 balls
Root - 31 balls - I don't want to criticise Root
Brook - 63 balls
Smith - 26 balls
Jacks - 29 balls
Carse - 5 Balls

That's 8 wickets in less than 36 overs on what everyone is saying is an absolutely perfect batting wicket. Beyond disgraceful and I am really struggling with 75% of them above in terms of selection justification, mentality, attitude and understanding a game situation. Pope for example should never play for England again. I'd happily just send him to the airport now.

At least they enjoyed a few days on the piss, golf course and posing for photos on the beach last week...........
