Australia v England, 3rd Test, 16th December , 23.30

Bowling unit as a whole just isn’t good enough really.

It’s easy with hindsight, but an attack of Carse, Atkinson, Archer, Wood & Tongue is never going to win you an ashes series. Be lucky if it wins you a test.
Big contrast between Bazball batting and Bazball bowling. The bowling seems really timid at times, just banging it in and hoping for the best.

I actually think that bowling unit should have given us a strong chance but we've played the fuller length Atkinson on the bouncy Perth and Brisbane pitches where he would have likely been more suited to Adelaide, Tongue at Adelaide where he would likely have been more suited to Perth and Brisbane, Potts arguably should have come in here or at Brisbane, Carse isn't an opening bowler, Wood was a risk as he hasn't played all summer and our frontline spinner has been deemed unselectable.

But other than that..not too bad:)

Atkinson bowled much better in that 1st innings than his figures suggested.

The Wood gamble was fair enough, you play him 1st test because he would either come through or break down when the series was live.
