Because Newcastle is the biggest supported team in that area with the longest history. That's like saying why don't Tranmere get more fans than Liverpool ?!
There must be over £1m people in their catchment area.

Re. The Mags The point is not that I'd expect to get the same for them as the cup games. But why does it seem to drop significantly more compared to league games? And to be clear I'm not talking about current bandwagon they have jumped on which is pathetic in a way but prior to that.

General sale about 10 hours.

Loads of SC holders had problems yesterday.

It's a week away.

Some people will be waiting on travel or work changes. Its not like a league game where exiles can plan months or weeks in advance and/or locals who work can plan shifts. There's been less than a weeks notice.

The meltdown I've seen by some, especially on the likes of twitter today has been, to be Frank, f***ing pathetic. Childish!
 
Everyone wanted cheap to tickets. Bluff called. We won’t pick a decent side and we’ve got no ambition in the cup…move in its cool everyone is happy with survival on the championship apparently.

I remember when I moved down to Sunderland in 1997 I got told that Sunderland was the biggest city between Leeds and Edinburgh.

When I moved down to Sunderland in 1997 I was always told that it was the biggest city between Leeds and Edinburgh. Clearly though, Newcastle has a massive conurbation, more populous than ours but why should we be arsed.
People will slag off Scottish football, the money in it is shite yet they dwarf English attendances per capita.

At the end of the day it’s just a number. It doesn’t matter. Mags get bigger attendances than us, we get bigger attendances than boro. Boro get bigger attendances than two of the top ten premier league teams.

I'm not bothered at all. Newcastle is bigger than Sunderland now I think, plus add Gateshead to that. I think it matters to them most as its all they go on about...... 52 thousand mentioned constantly

Current values of seats sold are not correct until after season ticket seats are released.

Attendance figures are how many tickets are sold, including season tickets, not how many people actually attend the game

Is it possible that the tracker is miscalculating this one?

The stadium plan doesn’t seem to indicate that 22,500 seats have been sold!
