Install someone who has a passion for the club in a role of actively seeking out a potential buyer, by selling the vision of Newcastle United that they share with Rafa Benitez, and every single one of its fans.

Dear Mr. Ashley,
As a lifelong Sunderland fan I just wanted to say thank you for being the owner of Newcastle United FC. Thank you for getting Mr. Benitez to sign a contract which means that even if he is desperately unhappy and the behind the scenes football business descends into chaos, he cannot walk away without paying you £5 million pounds. Thank you for providing Mr. Benitez £97 million pounds in the last two summer transfer windows, allowing him to build a squad wholly unequipped to compete and survive in the Premier League. Thank you for not buying into the sycophantic geordie nation Rafa bullshit and the delusions of grandeur which stand up to no scrutiny whatsoever.

I have been a Newcastle season ticket holder since Sir John Hall invented football in 1992.

In all my time following the club, I have seen us step aside for some of the best teams in the world and long for those times to return.

I have told my son the tales of when we:

Stepped aside so that Man Utd could overhaul our 12 point lead and win the league.

Stepped aside so that Wayne Roony could join Man Utd

Stepped aside 2 years running in the FA cup final

Stepped aside against Marseille to launch Didier Drogba onto the world stage

And most importantly stepped aside to become everyone's second club.

But who Mr Ashley, WHO have we stepped aside for this year???
