Ashes Watching Plans

Perth (0230 start) being the first test, followed by Brisbane being d/n (0430 start) kills the midnight ritual a bit - not as easy a watch as previously.

Few hours kip, first session then back to bed might be the way to go for the first test.

Also heard that there was a way to bypass a TNT subscription by getting Discovery which is cheaper or something?

Will watch as much as I can, unless we are getting a good hiding, I’m up at 5am on weekdays for work anyway so I’ll probably get up a bit earlier to watch more cricket. Think the discovery premium app is the same price as the TNT sub, £30 ish.

If anyone is out in Perth give me a shout. Done a few England tours now but this is the first one on my own and while I wouldn't say I'm nervous and I'm still absolutely buzzing for flying out on Sunday, I am worried I might not enjoy it quite as much as the others.

First world problems I know  Might be for the best I don't spend too much in my current situation anyway!

Going to try and catch a few hours sleep before play starts, then hopefully get through it all for the first two tests anyway, although I'm away for the first two days of the Brisbane one.

Perth one is hard but might set the alarm for the first hour. Brisbane is easy, get up early and WFH.

1st test will get up for the start of the 2nd session and try WFH that morning.

2nd test probs get up around 5ish.

1st hour (depending on how we are going) for the remaining 3

Just set alarm for 2.15 and will get up early for the majority of days for the first 2 tests. It’s probably worth staying awake for the final 3 tests but go to bed at Lunch.

TNT Sports is owned by Warner Bros Discovery as a joint venture with BT.

Discovery+ is just a replacement for the BT Sport app. As BT no longer in charge plus it encourages people with subscriptions with TNT to watch discovery content.

No way of getting it cheaper than the subscription charged by whoever sells it.

But if you have a relative or friend who hast TNT Sports you can use their login on two devices at any time. Used to be more devices as all my mates had it, now just one and my FIL.

Your relative/friend can change their password back once the Ashes is done to stop you using is the way I'd sell it to them

Loved the BT Sport app and enjoyed the Discovery+ app for our India series. As they both have the as live function so can watch an entire days play without having to stay up all night/wake up early.

It also allows you to skip through all the adverts and crap commentary you don't care about.

I wish Sky sports provided this feature but they don't, so people take Sky TV and then have recordable boxes for this feature. Have to put up with worse commentary but at least nee sleep deprivation.

Will try to catch the final session of the 1st test each day. Will lose interest in breaking my sleep cycle if we start to do badly though

I prefer to listen to TMS in bed...Set the alarm for the start of play...problem being....I fall asleep when England come out to bat, sorta wake up 5 hours later and the sodding Aussie openers are walking out to bat...I have this fleeting hope i've been asleep for 2 days, but then switch the sodding thing off.
I hate losing to them, don't mind 'em any other time...but the ashes?..nah

Usually stay up and watch the 1st session but Perth makes that impossible. Considered taking the day off, but not really appropriate right now.
Guess 1st test, I'll watch the last session (and likely wake up during the night to check the score)

2nd test is a day/nighter - so same problems exist really.

I have put the Friday in as a days leave at work so I can watch the first 3 days of the first test before missing the end by being back in the office. I could ask to change my work from home days to Monday & Tuesday like. I fear it could be close to done by then anyway.
