Ashes Squad 2025

A thread of Stokes 6 wickets. All the players got themselves out unsurprisingly

I’m guessing Bashir is in the Lions team because they want the England batsmen to get used to playing an off spinner?

I can’t imagine a world where we go into the first test with five seamers and Root as the only spin option.

I think there is a chance they will, but a lot will depend on the fitness of Wood now. I expect they won't play a frontline spinner in the second test.

Quote from George Dobell in today's Cricketer
"If England had any doubts about the hostility they will face here - and they surely didn't - they will have been dispelled within minutes of the start of this match.

A motorist, stopping for a moment beside this pretty ground just east of Perth, bellowed: "F*** you, you Pommie C****". You suspect there will be plenty more where that came from in the coming weeks."
Just pure class these convicts-it's the breeding.

I've said far worse and had worse said to me. If our lot get wound up by that then they are fuckced

The Aussies use of the word **** should be applauded imo a great word. They call their mates **** and sometimes when they say mate they are calling you a ****.

Scottish people generally use **** in the same way too, a variety of *****.

I'm sure they won't be worked up in the slightest as Dobell said. Merely illustrates what players can expect throughout the tour.

If someone said that to me out of the blue I'd be devastated like, not to mention pissed off. Hopefully they save it for the players and leave us normals alone!

Really? Footy players get far worse, they will be fine.
If I was part of a high profile sports team probably not. If just randomly going about my daily business, sat in a bar and some Aussie prick notices my accent or England shirt, absolutely! Who wouldn't?!
