Genuinely can't understand why they've dropped Root and Carberry is still in there.
Live text on bbc website seem to think root still in, though sky lads think he's out. Fcuk knows
SKY likely to be closer to the England campCarberry has performed better than Root..........
Is that actually true though? Or just a rumour. BBC ticker says all three aforementioned players have been given their caps this morning so that means they're in. I'd expect Bresnan, Panesar and AN Other to miss out. My money was on Carberry though.
Short sighted - Carberry isn't going to be around for the next Ashes. Root has been shunted up and down the order in his short career and shown his ability with the big hundred in the summer yet they drop him at the first sign of a dip in form
This is England from the 90s
Be over before thenI can't understand why we've dropped Root. I don't feel Carberry has done too much wrong this series, at least compared to his team mates, but surely trying something different at the top of the order and look a bit to the future would have made more sense.
I'm just glad this bloody tour is over in 5 days time and we can forget about cricket for a while. What a f***ing farce!
Root has looked all over the place recently and reached 50 3 times in his last 18 innings. He's bang out of form, take him out of the firing line, he'll come back.Short sighted - Carberry isn't going to be around for the next Ashes. Is it any wonder? He has batted every position from 1 to 7 in the 15 tests he has played yet still managed an average of 40Root has looked all over the place recently and reached 50 3 times in his last 18 innings. He's bang out of form, take him out of the firing line, he'll come back.
What's that got to do with playing and missing every other ball? I'd maybe consider that an issue if he was coming in at 6 and facing Warne rather than some quicks but I really don't see what difference that makes. Is it any wonder? You my friend have nailed itAm I the only one who doesn't mind the Root decision (if it turns out he's bee dropped).
The bloke has been shit, so why shouldn't he be dropped? Granted Carberry isn't the long term choice but that's to be considered when the selectors meet to pick the side to face Sri Lanka and India surely?
For now, play Carberry. I've already said elsewhere I think it may do Root good to be out the firing line for a bit, so he can go back to Yorkshire and find a bit of nick/learn a few more skills there.
I didn't think they'd do it but he has looked the poorest batsman of the series with the possible exception of Cook.Am I the only one who doesn't mind the Root decision (if it turns out he's bee dropped).

And he didn't look great opening up, he had the opportunity to cement it and didn't look comfortable
