He looks absolutely terrified of the Aussies mind

Yep fair enough drop

He’s a quality spinner though consistently gets good players out

Never gonna be a hold an end bowler

Won a game in South Africa last tour so hope he’s back for then she Sri Lanka

People get confused by his batting, Ive no doubt he’d win this game for us with runs on board

He's a confidence player, great player at his best. Shame about his batting because he looks a classy player when he gets going

he should have played at Old Trafford like, Overton actually outbowled Archer, but it was a negative selection

There has hardly been any swing in this game, Curran and Marsh only ones to find it. I think that is the point, he finds swing when others don't, and he causes problems

I get where you are coming from, and I don't for one minute think he is anything other than what he is, a 4th seamer, but I think we have missed a trick in this series

I'd have had him in for Woakes earlier too who I think has been really poor this series personally.

I think the bowling has been a slight issue at times, first innings and Old Traffords we majorly cocked up like.

I agree to an extent

I certainly dont go along with this narrative in the media that Australia are easily the best side and have comfortably won

we are 2 very very eveningly matched side, and I think we'd have won if Jimmy had stayed fit personally. He'd have been the best bowler in the series, better than Cummins and Archer, he is that good
BTW

Agree with this premise, the whole "retain the Ashes" concept is very strange, Australia celebrating without even winning the series, there is no other sporting contest decided this way.

If Strauss's side in 10/11 had drew 2-2 would they have celebrated as much?
It needs to be treated as one off series, if a series finishes 2-2 you share the Ashes for example, I have always thought this by the way, its not because we aren'twinning

Yeah if we win this, it's a drawn series that can't be disputed as score will be 2 2.

Yeah agree share Ashes

I can understand you thinking I was talking in hindsight but it was honestly my view

Not been majorly pissed off with it but he’s looked done in to me after the WC

I wouldn’t take Woakes on the winter tours if Anderson and wood are 100% fit. Stone too.

Would you?

We didn’t draw we won,

And it’s no relevance to what I’m talking about

Australia haven’t won thr ashes if it’s 2-2 like
We won the World Cup by Drawing in exactly the the same way that the Ashes are retained by drawing.

The rules stated beforehand that the way we drew the World Cup was enough to win, despite in reality the scores being drawn, twice in fact. It was the definition of both sides being even.

In the same manner the rules stated before the Ashes that a draw is all that is needed for Australia to have them, that's guaranteed so the ashes are theirs. They have them, we dont, they can't be shared, they've kept them, we've lost them.

You can't celebrate winning the WC in which we drew twice in the final with a straight face surley but say Ashes aren't won because the holders can only draw the series

It’s easy to love Curran. He’s got bottle and he’s a really clever bowler but for me on at least half of the venues in world cricket you can’t pick him. In England at times and in NZ but it’s difficult to see how he would take wickets in Aus, India, Pak, SA (maybe Durban) etc and we have seen how totally ineffective he was in WI. For me he is a horses for courses cricketer. If he ends up being effective all over the world I will be the first to say I’m wrong
Really good point, but I guess we have a Curran for all seasons, in theory. That said, I think all the seamers will struggle in the sub-continent.

We haven’t lost anything

Not even within the current rules

This Ashes series has definately shown our weakness, especially our top order openers. But there has been a few good surprises, I actually think that over time Burns will be a fine test opener, plus Jofra has been a huge success. Langer doubted the lads stamina, and his ability to play a few tests on the run. Well his thoughts were blown to smitherings, Jofra has been sensational, bowling at over 90 mph and causing problems to every Aussie batsman (and its just been revealed that he can also bowl left handed if needed).
Obviously we are not going to recover the Ashes, but I cant wait to see Jofra in Australia in a few years time, just imagine what he can do on those fast bouncy pitches. Just hope Root dosn't over bowl him in the upcoming tests.
