Around the Shires....

The cheer at the Oval earlier when the announcer announced that Hampshire had lost was superb

No-one likes those rotten c*nts
Reckon there’s a chance of a result at your place today? Definite draw in normal circumstances but perhaps for the sake of the last day of the season and the fans in the ground they might try to arrange something?

Nah, absolutely no chance imo. Shame. Was gonna pop up before work, always good craic on the last day of the season, but just not worth it with the game the way it is

Really surprised at that, it looked like quite an easy set up from the overnight position too. Surrey declare, Glamorgan score 80 runs or so in 14 overs and Surrey looking at 350-360 to win in 80 overs or so.

Not to worry. It’s one of them daft rules with cricket that means we the players will have to hang about (and the bowlers keep running in) til half 4, because there’s no way at all there’ll be a result without a declaration.

Surrey 503 for 2 at lunch. Unbroken 256 stand for the third wicket. They might declare, give Gloucestershire a few pie chuckers, then set a run chase. Or it might end up 750 for 2 and a totally pointless afternoon.

Why are they still playing?

Just shake hands and go home.
Glamorgan have used 11 bowlers.

I alluded to it earlier, it’s one of the many nonsensical rules of cricket where they can’t shake hands on a draw until the last hour begins.

By ‘declaring’ they can shake hands ten minutes prior to the last hour beginning.

Pope is probably one of the best 7 batsman in England, however is average is inflated due to games like this against shite attacks on those oval pitches

gives him a bit of an unfair appearance compared to some of his to contempories
