Anyone recommend a local company for elderly care - home visits

there was an organisation called supportive (i think) came in to see the mother in law before she passed away last week. not sure how you get in touch with them but the lasses who came out were excellent. the care is great but the kindness and friendliness was priceless. they were only there for a week or so before she died but they were really good. i think they were from ferryhill and organised by the hospital when she was discharged.
hope you get sorted.

No, they're called Bluebird Care and have branches all over the country, including Sunderland. I work in home care, although not for Bluebird. However I know they treat their staff comparitively well and have generally good and committed carers working for them as a result. They're usually at or around the top rating of the reviews from clients.

Someone earlier said their are some 'bad' care companies, but you'll find some excellent carers working for even the worst. It's just that the worst and most abusive companies will take on anyone with a pulse who'll work under their conditions, hence they have more flaky, eccentric and unreliable carers sprinkled amongst their staff.

When you do find a care company, if there are any of the carers you don't like and don't want back, then don't hesitate to let the office know. It doesn't have to be anything serious - just don't particularly get on is enough.

My other half works in a sort of management capacity in care as did I at one time. Agree. Most are absolutely fab.

But there's a handful of truly awful people sprinkled in some care companies from the bottom to the top. Some of the stories...

Hetton home care was used for my mother in law a few years back , some of the younger carers left a lot to be desired If the regular older careers were not on shift.

We started to log the issues by email and that seemed to do the trick .

Can’t give an up to date appraisal but tread with care either way.
