Norman Tebbitt probably would agree tbf. His "cricket test" comment was cos they didn't consider themselves to be British.
It was because they were British, but supported India because of their heritage wasn't it, so he objected to them claiming to be British?

I don't know what he would make of Indians donning an England shirt.

That was what he wanted, Indians or whoever born and brought up in England supporting England. The thought was immigrant communities not supporting England was divisive and indicative of a wider alienation.
