Anyone not wanting Europe?

great chance of experience and allows squad rotation, we become a more attractive prospect for players. the only way we would go down is if we didn't manage the situation well enough with regards to recruitment and based on our summer activity we're no longer mugs in that department.

Some of the teams in the conference league next season include Besiktas, Freiburg, Atalanta, Panthaniakos, Braga and potentially, Ajax plus the 7th side in Spain (could be Valencia).

It’s not all minnows.
Atalanta would be clear favs, Freiburg if they beat villa won't be in it so the 2nd favs would be the english team unless it's Chelsea who would be the clear favs.

Barely worth winning? Tell that to west ham or crystal palace fans .

Would be one of the biggest days in our history

Winning any trophy would be great, but that Europa Conference is barely above the League Cup in terms of prestige. Palace's FA Cup win is far bigger deal imo.

If we did qualify let's face it it's more likely to be the conference. Unless ive miscounted including the final palace will play 17 games in Europe this season, thats a lot, I didn’t think it would be that many.

Seen it over here (with Djurgården) that the Conference League actually kept players happy. And some players like Joel Asoro ended up getting a few games, goals and some confidence.

Means we’d end up keeping popular players like Wilson and Luke for longer and I think that would be great. Would also help a young keeper to get a lot of experience.

The clubs in a unique position right now. We have the basis of a quality young squad whose value is orders of magnitude higher than it cost to assemble. A few smart signings and we become a genuine top 8 contender.

I think its about time this great club started aiming to put some european football and trophies on the board and this is as good a time as any in modern times.

I think the last team that played in Europe and was relegated was 25 years ago.
bugger.

I was all for Europe until that stat, its the Sunderland way to break runs

Joking aside, I want us to finish as high as possible, lets worry about Europe if we manage to get results going our way.

No matter what, what a fantastic season.

Can't believe I'm asking this but there's a few lads in work this morning saying we shouldn't be looking to win on Sunday as if we qualify for europe it all but guarentees relegation next year...

Just wondering if anyone shares the same opinion? For me it's a no brainer, opportunities like this don't come around often and we should be snapping the hands off it.
If we get to europe the club will recruit for that circumstance..it really is as simple as that! The club is trying to improve itself bit by bit ,day by day and once we stop doing that ,well thats when relegation thoughts will enter the conversation.

I would prefer to win the conference league then the fa cup but that's just me

Part of me worries about it - I'm looking at Palace and Forest and thinking I'm not sure I want us to end up at the bottom of the league.

Then part of me remembers me this time last year, telling the kids it's okay if we dont win the Playoff final because we'll only get beat every week in the Prem anyway.

I think it puts us on the relegation fight … which is usually 6-7 clubs for a long part of the season

Just look at Palace, Forest, Newcastle to see the problem… all 3 clubs would be at least 10 points probably more better off but for being in Europe.

Our squad won’t be big enough to avoid it I fear …. But it certainly does not mean relegation

I prefer to look at Arsenal, Man City and Aston Villa (particularly Villa) and even Liverpool, none of them have been greatly affected by completing in Europe.

It's a fallacy to think that we MAY be affected by extra games.

Our squad will end up being bigger if we qualify.
I for one trust the Club to be organised to compete in the cups and the league.
