Had a spell with West Ham as a youngster, made a handful of appearences on loan at Blackburn. 40 caps for Canada, and still in and around their squad. Last played in South Korea.

I’m surprised we let Flanagan go as he’s been ok and we aren’t exactly blessed with options. I always had a faint impression he didn’t enjoy playing for us particularly. Imagine the move was at his request.

Surely it should also be based on experience and level of experience. Plenty of UK coaches could be given opportunities, ask Sol.

Gut feel is that we have left ourselves short at the back BUT I think Speakman and his team have earned enough respect for us to trust them to do their jobs. I’m confident we’ll be ok.
