Anthony Patterson

He done a fuck up then the usual blank stare the other night, I havent missed that.

Doesnt seem to get pissed off at any errors, seems to just shrug which isnt a great look.
I don't think that's an issue tbh. A lot of keepers are like that. The positive side to it is that they are rarely rattled

The one player i feel abit sorry for. Roefs is clearly an upgrade and there’s no doubt we needed to improve in that area but just think it leaves Patterson in a tough spot. He’s been numher 1 for the last 3/4 seasons and now with the position he plays and fact we out the cup he might not kick a first team ball till the fa cup in January. He would be number for the majority of the championship and teams aboad. It’s different for Neil Roberts Rigg etc as they outfield players and are 1/2 injuries away from starting and have opportunities to also come off the bench. We obviously need a good number of 2 so it’s ideal for the club having a competent goalie pushing Roefs and always have that security blanket if a injury occurred but it must be abit shite for Patterson
I praised Patto last season as a shot stopper, not as a good keeper. He has too many faults and inconsistencies in his all round game. Roef however is on another level.
If Patto can up his game to elite level and I say if, then he has a chance but he needs to get his head down, not mope because he is doing that, his body language speaks volumes much like Dan Neale yesterday, then he may improve significantly to warrant a first team spot. Otherwise he will not be the number two for long.

im not disagreeing with anything you have said just think he’s in a tough spot he’s literally not going to kick a ball for 4 months. Different for outfield players but when you have been a number one for 3/4 years it must be shite. Abit like Ramsdale
At Arsenal when they signed Raya
I agree, both things are true. He's in a bit of a pickle as if he wants to get game time he will need to leave. But the club are unlikely to allow that unless we sign another as I doubt we want Moore as the number 2.

I honestly don’t think he will be that bothered. Been linked with Liverpool in the past and Spurs were apparently about to lump 10 million on him in January until they done background checks, they signed a Ukrainian instead. Both would have been as a number 2 keeper. Probably suites him and his lifestyle being a number 2 rather than 1.

I agree, its very harsh on him and the one I feel for most. Let's just hope he's happy being a number 2.

What sort of assumption is that 😂😂

I'd be happy (for all parties) if he moved on to a regular starting spot somewhere. I'm happy to have Simon Moore as the backup bench keeper.

I agree with you by the way mate, created a similar thread earlier in the summer:

Quite a few keepers make a whole career from being a number 2 or 3! Probably the best job in football haha
Patterson is 25 years old though and been a number one for years he could play another 10 years then wind down to been a back up keeper later in his career.

He's a good premier league back up (if he can stay disciplined) and a top 5 championship keeper. Depends what he wants to do now: live the backup life or go and play footy every week. Either way, I'll forever be grateful for his contributions to us

Roefs is next level.

Some of his distribution yesterday got us straight on the front foot. Patterson isn’t capable of that

He also refused to leave his line for crosses which Roefs seems very good at. We’d be under a lot more pressure with Patterson In Goal
He’s like a young Tommy Sorensen but with better distribution. Got a very high ceiling and could turn out to be a bargain
