It was clearly implied that the entire tweet/scenario was metaphorical, thus rendering the conventional meanings you refer to as irrelevant, in studying English as I did, you should appreciate the adaptability of the language instead of being rigidly literal and narrow-minded.
Reckons if he uses big words, it makes him clever. He probably looked those up in a thesaurus just to make his argument sound more intelligent.
