Unlikely the cupboard looks bare as far as Pucker Englishmen go, next one in will be Robson from Middlesex who is basically an Aussie who came over here to play for middlesex when he could not get a rookie contract for New South Wales, and even then could not decide whether he wanted to play safe and stay in England or be brave and return to Australia and try and make it their.
 

Cook, Downton, Giles..et al. will be on the back foot from day 1.

KP, I suspect, will always be the spectre at their feast.

Paul Downton. A man who played for England because he played for Middlesex.

My main memory of him was throwing the ball up in the air celebrating after an outside edge against the West Indies in 1980. He failed to catch it when the ball came back down and the batsman was given not out.

It seems like he's still a prick 34 years on.

The whole thing shows just why pound for pound we are the most unsuccessful sporting country in existence!
Build them up to knock them down. KP is our only box office player yet not even halfway through a central contract he is surplus to requirements!
There is no way if he was an Aussie that his international career would be could short at 33.They deal with difficult charachters then reap the rewards on the pitch.
We have Monty panesar who urinates on somebody gets took on tour with the players claiming "he needs an arm round shoulder,he's going through difficult time"!!!!
There is no way on gods earth that KP has done anything even remotely as bad as this yet he has now been shown the exit door!
Only in England folks!
 
Sounds to me like Cook has said "I don't know how to manage him" and the board have gone, alright we do it for you. I totally agree with Vaughan's take on the situation on the BBC. If Swann said a couple of weeks ago he's been no problem since 2012 does that mean something happened since Swann left the tour or was he telling lies (when he had nothing to gain from doing so).

Someone asked why it's been announced rather than just not pick him. It had to be or it would be asked at every press conference plus from his point of view if he's not going to play then get rid of his central contract so he can sign his own endorsements/IPL contracts etc without having to ask the ECB first.

How do we know if he is a stink in the dressing room??? All the quotes that have came from inside the camp have been nothing but pro pieterson so anything else is pure speculation.
Naturally something is wrong and reading between lines he is obviously no angel but as I have said in a previous post players past and present have very publically done a lot worse!
My personal take is that there is a lot of jealousy that goes with KP.He will certainly make the most money from endorsements etc.Then No real takers for broad or swann in IPL couple year back when the first cracks appeared with KP and his retirement from ODI cricket (ECB made correct stance on that issue) they then start making statements about how they are just as strong without him etc.Obviously bitter at not being as big a draw as KP and possibly sensed a bit more exposure without Pietersons shadow looming large!
All in all the biggest loser in all of this is the paying public, and the ECB don't even have the decency to explain why they have come to this decision!
All very poor.

Mate, don't argue with idiots

He argued that Flintoff was a better player than Kallis.
 
Rather get rid of Cook, he was shocking in all departments this tour. Despite tossing his wicket away KP still wound up top scorer.

Cook for all a poor 6 months is a class act with the willow in his hands somebody just needs to take the armband from him.Only issue on that is no natural replacement.Broad possibly only viable option.

Moores and flower both got the boot as well whilst cook is well in his way to following suit. So those 3 are hardly paragons of virtue either!
Michael Vaughan captained pieterson and is quoted as saying "he would love to know why KP is so unmanageable" As I have said it is clear KP is no angel but I have heard nothing factual that says to me he should be bombed out.
And flintoff better than kallis?? Really???????? :-)

Far more wrong with his batting than the distractions of captaincy. Eg padding up, wafting at the angled delivery. KP is a great player of spin as shown in the India tour, has to play in the summer.

I would feel more confident with Compton opening the batting ATM. Cook looks and sounds a nervous wreck.

We've been here before with cook prior to the 2010/11 ashes tour and up until summer 2012 he has been phenomenal.To be a test match opener you have to be 100% focused and I just think his brain is totally scrambled which has led to his questionable shot selection of late.
He is way too good a player not to bounce back though i just think that would be a lot easier without the burden of captaincy weighing him down.
