Struggling to see why there's quite so much uproar over this.

Yes, he's brilliant, but surely his attitude has been questionable for many a year now? Cricket is above all else a team game and England can do without his ego...
 
It's the perfect time to remove any ounce of dynamism that we have in the middle order. Always best to replace senior and best players at a time of strength[DOUBLEPOST=1391540112][/DOUBLEPOST]

I agree - if you have one bad 'un in the dressing room it is one too many. Now don't appoint Giles and Downton has made a good start.

The bloke is 33 and yet still chucks his wicket away trying to look good. He's a brilliant batsmen when he wants to be, but he needs to play for his teammates more. That said, this is obviously not a cricketing decision. He's clearly gone and done something and they've decided this is the opportune time to oust him once and for all.

It's a shame but he's got nobody but himself to blame.
 
Best batsman and only 33, crazy decision.

Would love the ECB to come out and tell us exactly the reason why.... "looking to the future" doesn't wash at 33 mind...

Good captains and management pull the so called trouble makers into line though, for the good of the game.

He's a risk taker. He is never going to be a safety first batsman. He averages nigh on 50, Im quite happy to take the rough with the smooth in terms of his dismissal.

Until it is fully clarified why he has been axed we dont know that he only has himself to blame. For all we know he could have been the ignored and ostracised member of the side who was outcast because he had forthright views about how we have played our cricket this winter. Its guesswork and based upon Graeme Swann's titilation to say KP has no-one to blame but himself this winter

I agree, but has that not been tried? Pietersen has had numerous chances - I think it's fairly obvious something pretty big must have blown up in Australia. The fact KP has came out and accepted the decision with good grace would suggest both parties have agreed to keep schtum. Technically, Pietersen could sue them under employment law, so I think the fact he's simply moving on speaks volumes.[DOUBLEPOST=1391540712][/DOUBLEPOST]

See what I've just stated marra. Just my opinion but if, as you suggest, it's him who has been victimised here, surely he would pursue legal options?

I don't think he's been victimised but I'd like to know why this decision has been made. He underperformed big time in Australia but there were only 2 or 3 England players who didn't. I'd like to know whether moving on and clearing out includes the other elder statesmen of the team if we're rebuilding.
 
Really disappointing but I assume there's reason's we aren't aware of (or rather events). This is the crucial bit
ECB managing director Paul Downton said: "The time is right to rebuild not only the team but also the team ethic."

Surprised he's taken it as calmly has he has so far. I'm also surprised given what Vaughan was saying about getting him closer to the leadership of the team. I thought Vaughan would have been close enough to the camp to know if it really was time to let him go.

Anyway, I think he's been brilliant for English cricket, I always enjoyed watching him bat and good luck to him whatever he does going forward (saw something about Kid's barbershops the other day :lol:)
