What were you saying Rentaghost.........Malinga aint no good in the test arena

Completely missing the point, the best one day bowlers will all have enough about them to turn themselves into decent test bowlers.

Sad for test cricket that so many have opted to cut short their test careers to chase the $$$$$, with Tait, Nannes, Lee, etc all having chosen to do the same

I think Malinga is different to the others in that he has bowed out of test cricket when he should be in his prime. Tait should be too but he's just not fit enough for test cricket, it wasn't an option for him. Lee and Nannes are viewing at as a last and first big pay day respectively.

If you're regularly injured then there's absolutely no choice to make but I still get the impression 99% of cricketers still want to play and perform in test matches. The problem that really needs to be looked at is the poorer nations. You can't really fault Kieran Pollard for taking the coin when his first class record isn't the greatest and he's not going to earn a lot playing for the Windies anyway. But even he has said he is effectively taking a sabbatical from first class cricket to get security for his family then he wants to concentrate on tests.

From memory I seem to recall you putting Malinga and Umar Gul down as world class test cricketers far better than Anderson. I simply pointed out that neither of them were as good as anderson as test match bowlers.

I believe any comparisons are now almost entirely pointless due to the fact that test matches worldwide are being played on such contrasting wickets and some teams are playing far more tests than others which is ludicrous

I accept that to a degree but its just an opinion really - Andersons record is better but its much down to the fact that he swings it late both ways at will which I think is much better armoury at test cricket than bowling fast yorkers.

Dont get me wrong though malinga is a truly great ODI bowler and a good bowler in any form of cricket.
