Fighting like fuck for his people. Can we get him for Mayor of Sunderland next?
Speaking of which, who is the Mayor at present and why hasn't he/she been as vocal.

Andy Burnham is in an elected post as Mayor of Greater Manchester with responsibility for transport, policing and other strategic decisions and will have control of associated budgets. He gave up his Member of Parliament role when elected. From t'internet:-

Accountable to and representing the people of all 10 boroughs in Greater Manchester, Andy steers the work of Greater Manchester’s Combined Authority, leading on issues such as the economy, transport, police and fire services, to ensure Greater Manchester is one of the best places in the world.

Responsible for transforming public services and shaping the future of our region, the Mayor represents Greater Manchester people, making the case for our region at the heart of government and on the world stage.

The role of Mayor in Sunderland is largely ceremonial, more involved with raising funds for nominated charities and doing things like turning the lights on at Houghton Feast :)

I had to look it up but it's Cllr Lynda Scanlan who represents Millfield ward

That was last year.
She jumped ship to Hendon in the last locals knowing the Lib Dems would win in Millfield

He's been very good, I'd like to see him opposite BJ at the dispatch box of a Wednesday tbh, but that's a discussion for somewhere else...

Didn't she get accused of some kind of wrongdoing by Looney Len

Sunderland, South Tyneside and Durham went against the elected mayor route. Newcastle and North Tyneside (and Northumberland?) collectively have one and that levered in more funding for them. Teesside did the same.

The mayor north of the Tyne is no Andy Burnham, one of the reasons we hear less of him.

Disappointed in all our local MPs (irrespective of which party they represent) they should have been regular fixtures on local TV keeping us up to date on a local level and telling us what they were doing for their constituents. It simply didn't happen.
