Andrew Strauss

Very sad. A few years ago I managed to get a hospitality ticket at The Oval. I ended up on the top deck in the section for ex England players. In front of me was Stauss and his wife and kids. Strauss was there for about an hour and then disappeared (on business/ work?) His wife stayed for the whole day. She was really pleasant to talk to and when i asked if Pietersen would be getting a recall she rolled her eyes and burst out laughing.

Nice lady RIP

Awful :( R.I.P Ruth.

I know a few loved the throw the "Head Boy" crap around, but aside from his superb achievements as both a batsman and a captain, AS has always come across as a fine bloke.
He did and this is so sad. R.I.P.

Wouldn't wish it on anyone especially a genuine decent cricketing bloke like Straussy, his kids and obviously his late wife. RIP Ruth.

My heart goes out to those 2 kids -how do bairns of that age cope with something like that? Typically Andrew immediately announced forming a foundation to fund research into this form of the disease.

Bloody awful news. Heart goes out to the family.
Ruth Strauss was a legend amongst the cricket "WAGS" - despite her Aussie roots, she lived and breathed Andrew's career. I'll never forget the footage of her trying to calm everyone (including herself) as Strauss neared his century at the Oval in 2005.

God bless you Ruth. RIP

He will be missed IMO, especially when you end up with Giles

Great interview with Morgan, praises Strauss for his one day vision.

Test team has been mixed, but the transformation of the one day stuff is amazing. I used to never watch them really or at least not look forward to them.

You can see from nations like Australia, who have no clear vision of how to play or how to achieve it

Morgan has summed up FTECB perfectly in one paragraph.

“The first thing they [administrators] do in my experience is have a survey or an analyst to look into something for eight months, then they come up with a three-year plan to save their job,” he says. “Keep it long lasting, you’re in there for four years".
