Mr Redknapp

Striker
Just been thinking in the 5th Test thread about where he will end up and does anyone think that he will last beyond next summer?, and how many will he take before then?

my random guess : 612

And you can't knock Broad's contributions either

Shows no signs of stopping, he has the skill to diddle batsmen out at 75 mph, much like Hadlee did towards the end (I think he played tests until 38).

650+

After the match, he said he's fit, bowling well and enjoying cricket. Why would he quit?

It's not like Cook, who had been in poor nick for some time and had a young family competing for his time.

Also not standing in anybody's way so there will be no external pressure.

I think he’ll do a John Lever and play until he’s 40. He’s naturally lean, as has been mentioned has enough guile to compensate a slight reduction in pace. I don’t think 700 is out of the question.

Like Broad too, really got to appreciate the final years of these geniuses do their thing. Not so long ago we had the likes of Headley, Mullally, MaCague, Munton as our best options.

Why do people class Headley with that lot? He could have been as good as Jimmy without the injuries. He could swing it round corners.
It’s a fair shout, he was a very good bowler on his day. There weren’t enough of them though, would central contacts, modern fitness methods have seen him play more, we’ll never know.

He was unfortunately synonymous with a grim period of English cricket too.
