He won’t retire - not after this.
I think we should have had him ready for Lord’s after not being ready for the Ireland test and scratched Edgbaston off the record.
I’ll be gutted if this is the way he ends a spectacular international career.

Cost us the first test and therefore possibly the ashes
Selectors should have taken the decision away from him

Harsh but fair. I'd rather he didn't play than risked aggravating an injury and leaving us with ten men.

Can't see Overton playing over Woakes, the way our selection works.

Yeah. He’s shite now

He's 37, he hasn't played a lot of cricket over the last couple of months and he was obviously struggling for form. We're trying to bowl out Australia and Jimmy could only get 2 wickets against Durham stiffs, so much so they ended up declaring with 7 wickets down and over 400 on the board. Dress it up anyway you want but that isn't impressive and Steve Smith wouldn't exactly be shitting himself at thought of facing Anderson in that sort of form.

Dress it up anyway you want, a non competitive second team isn’t a barometer of ability

6 months ago I was worried about how we would replace him. Not so worried now though. We need someone at the other end to replace Broad when he goes.

All the great teams have had a good tandem bowling attack. Sometimes even 3.

Why do people suddenly think he is past it?

2016 41 wickets @ 23.73
2017 55 @ 17.58
2018 43 @ 22.51
2019 10 @ 24.60

He’s had one injury for gods sake. Should Mark Wood retire?
exactly this, all it means is you use him when needed for the winter matches, rotate him in or out as required.
same thing with wood if he's fit.
