Anderson finished?

great intro to Atherton's piece for tomorrow

"James Anderson is, in cricketing terms, old. That much was obvious from Matthew Potts’s capping ritual on the first morning of the Lord’s Test. Anderson made his England debut when Potts was four years of age. The man who gave Potts his cap, Steve Harmison, has been retired from duty for 13 years, yet made his one-day international debut after Anderson. It was like having your grandad at your graduation ceremony.

These absurdities sparked a lovely frenzy of “Jimmy Anderson is old” tributes on social media. It was noted, for example, that Anderson made his Test debut before Brendon McCullum, now his boss. My favourite was the startling realisation that he debuted in Test cricket before Sir Andrew Strauss, who played 100 Tests and who has been retired for a decade. Let that one sink in a moment."

 ridiculous
