Anderson finished?

I hope you’re right about the summer but I fear the worst and think we might have seen the last of them.

Not fully convinced root will remain captain by the summer

I think he needs to win this series
They'll both be given a valedictory test at least- probably the rearranged one v India.

Things can change quickly like mate

Root loses this series then we get a new director of cricket and coach by the summer and possibly a new captain

It’s impossible to say

I think splitting broad and Jimmy up isn’t the worst thing but Jimmy should be playing we need ti win some games

I thought he was fairly poor in the ashes mind. Relative ti his ability anyway. I suspect someone will have a stat showing he has lowest average etc but I felt like he was just trying to bowl dry the majority of the time.

He will play in the summer like no doubt in my mind

I think he’s become more defensive and he’s not ripping through top orders like he did. I’d have no problem with him moving to first change cos of that.

I think he’s probably had to do that because of

1. the surfaces we’ve been playing on in the last year/18 months (SL and India I’m thinking of) and
2. the pitiful totals we’ve repeatedly put up thanks to our batsmen.

No good bowling attacking lines and lengths and going at 4+ an over with naff all on the board to defend, on dust bowls in 40 degrees in the subcontinent.

He’d still be opening the bowling for me, until he’s says no more.

Sure his recent figures show hes been more successful later in the innings than with the new ball.

Think it would have made alot of sense to ease him out of the team/lessen his influence (whether it is months or years) by making him first change to blood new players in with the new ball.

Broad is a little different as I think he needs the new ball if he plays.

Saw an article on BBCSPORT seems hes fearing the end alot more than what Strauss was saying at the team announcement.
Think those phone calls have alot more to them beyond what Broad and Anderson have openly spoke about
Anderson is bowling the best hes ever bowled. God knows what’s going on.

To be honest I think hes been like that for years where the slightly defensive length is his norm and he pushes that length up on occasions rather than the other way around. I've heard it said that he 'bowls for his average' which is rubbish. He just believes that giving batsmen fuck all is the best way of getting them out cheaply. I think he takes the view that is batsmen are getting nowt off him they are much more likely to have a nibble when its pushed further up. I'm not too bothered if he opens or is first change as long as he gets the ball in his hands early.
