Anderson finished?

Why does McCullum think it's his call? Selectors should be free to pick the best players. Arrogant prick.
He can quit when he wants but he's got nothing left to prove to anyone. Just don't want to see him going out after being smashed all around the ground by a bunch of kids.
He hasn't got to that level yet.

Think it could be more of a case that he's got the summer to show what he has left and that right now he's the 3rd seamer on form.

Potts, Stone, Cook etc...are going to have to play at some point when the Ashes 2025 has to be the target for the bowling attack

Myself I think we should be trying out bowlers that will win us the Ashes, Anderson ain’t going to be there so end it after one test for a finale then look forwards.

Great bowler in his prime though.

I wonder if he will do a Cook and continue in county cricket for a few more years
I think he will so long as Lancs can afford him if he’s not on a central contract.

I do agree in a way. Josh Tongue looks like he could be a brilliant Test match bowler. He consistently hits 85mph+ but he’s 26 and barely played at international level.

Atkinson and Turner are two more very fast bowlers who need experience.

I really like the look of Atkinson, if we could get him, stone and archer fit and firing I think we could trouble them.

We also need a quality spinner and sadly I don’t see any.

Exactly this. 18 months to get an ashes side together that’s capable of winning it. Anderson was never going so bed someone else in.

Why not?

He may or may not still be top class by then. But at this point we don't know, so I don't get why we should write him off this far out.

Takes his wickets in Oz at 34 apiece with an economy of 2.8. We might be in situations where we are desperate for that level of return.

Wish him all the best given more than most could give. 20years at the top is an incredible achievement. I can see both points of view, but at his age he will more likely pick up niggle injuries or one day just wake up and think that's enough, which would leave us even more inexperienced. Equally I'd rather he go out at the top rather than realising he suddenly isn't up to it
