BOLLOX
We go for the club and the tem and try and get 3 points. Doesn't matter who is in charge.
We've lost managers in the past and this is no difference.
We are a good well run club with a massive crowd and all things SOL and AOL and doing ok in the championship

There will be some good applicants
Those applicants aren’t in the dugout tomorrow man.

I mean tomorrow in isolation, not the full season.

They (Dodds & Proctor) will not have a clue what to do when Norwich go 2-0 up early on.

Yeah. Exactly.

Nobody really has a clue what their squads are and aren’t capable of this season yet.
I’m sure they have a pretty good idea…or Stoke wouldn’t have fired their manager! I’m also pretty sure there is at least 15 Championship managers who would take the Sunderland job today!

I agree with the sentiments that Alex Neil can now go ahead and fuck off.

But he’s the person who got us promoted and has us looking like a proper side. If he perceived it was a problem we weren’t recruiting / pursuing the correct player for the level we’re at having coached at this level and has been with our squad on the training pitch, then that’s also a problem.
Maybe the fact we're looking like a 'proper side' is down to recruitment.

Suppose it depends on whether or not they ring AN first, for a reference.

They did though, didn't AN say that he wanted the rolling contract as it suited him?

It suited him because it was a bit into the season, probably wasn’t fully sure about the club, and didn’t want to stick about in league one if we didn’t go up. After his achievements, I think there should have been a renegotiation and the contract changed. Maybe that was attempted, not sure, but this scenario was always a possibility.

So from what Downie has said, the players don't want AN to go. Which in my opinion, means AN has spoke to them about the situation this morning and told them the offer wasn't good enough, so the players have spoke to the owners and asked them to boost their offer and give him what he wants.

Problem is this sets an unwanted precedent. Either the club give in and give him what he wants and player power ends up taking over again, or we don't give in and he goes to Stoke and the board get absolute pelters again.
This . Neil has no business discussing his wages with players and players are here to play for sunderland afc not Neil so should shut their hole.
If stoke have made him an offer that completely blows us out then thats that . What happens when stewart wants to leave , do all the players go " oh pay him anything ". Fuck it we've got limits and if stoke have thrown daft money in nowt can be done .

Neil is arrogant. Mentioned this the other day. He’s done an excellent job but has an aloofness. He’ll be the same at Stoke

That’s going to be incredibly difficult. If Neil is asked why he left and mentions the recruitment / roles it’ll be hard bringing in a reputable coach that is willing to work as an underling who’s opinion may be overlooked.
Why does such systems work at other clubs?

Ok mate calm down.

I read into what what posted on the official SAFC website, permission was asked to speak to AN, we could not refuse becasue of his contract, he must have been interested or he would never have spoken to them.

He did, he left.

How is that logic wrong?

Your'e just angry cos he's left and now it's my fault.

And please, humor me, what logic should I have taken from the offical press release?
I'm not blaming you if he's gone.

What you could take from the release is that he was talking with Stoke. That was the information available. You didn't know why he was, neither did I. If I'd asserted that the only reason he'd done so was to get more money from Sunderland and he ended up with a bigger deal from us, you would've correctly called bullshit.

If you'd said your guess was, or if it were me, we'd not be having this conversation.

It is coincidence that our last two managers have left dramatically as the window comes to a close and there seems to be differing opinions on who we should sign?

We got lucky last time, can’t see it happening again.
We will appoint some meek dullard like Grayson, or someone just happy to be here like Ainsworth
