Give the man what he wants or release him. The minute he’s actually in the car to go to Stoke for talks that’s it regardless if he gets the job or not, as a manager of Sunderland you can come back from that. It’s not exactly a prem job where fans might be more forgiving, also shows the players you aren’t committed.

It’s mad how quickly we implode. Obviously behind the scenes things may have been strained for weeks but from the outside we looked in such a good position to crack on.

I’ve gone from genuinely excited for the next game week after week to feeling like we won’t ever be able to build anything because shit like this always happens.

Would love to know if it’s money, the set up, the personnel….can’t understand why he’d want this move.

I have no doubt as a club we will get there and I agree we are the biggest club in the league, but that doesnt give us a god given right to win games. We are near the top of the championship, I dont think our squad is at that level, so i think he has us punching.
Firm agree. Even the performances have been punching a bit, we were lucky to beat Bristol (@The Situation has a thread about the xG if you're into that)

Genuinely, we're a punt for relegation now

Get Philly on the streets of Sunderland

He’ll see a bald lad every 10 mins and go “It’s Alex Neil, it’s…it’s not Alex Neil.”

We’re not the biggest club in the championship at all. Best supported .. Yes

Money talks and we can’t compete with the likes of Watford , Burnley , WBA and Stoke by the look of things
So Watford, Burnley, WBA and Stoke are bigger than us because they seemingly have more money? By that logic the mags are the biggest club in the world.

Bullshit. We've spent decent money pre season and he apparently put in another £3m bid for another player. We've probably spent more pre season than any club managed by Neil in a window before.

He signed up on the basis that we'd be spending transfer fees on players under 23/24, if he's decided it doesn't suit him, that's down to him.

Fuck him
Exactly

Meanwhile stoke cant spend cos of ffp

Obviously getting a good contract though…
