Neil is up here on his own in Durham on a 12 month rolling contract without overall managerial control of incomings and outgoings. It’s easy to see why he’d be attracted by a move elsewhere if the terms and conditions were better

I don't get why people don't get it. Very similar aims, take away 20k fans and is their much difference not really. People need to take the specs off when looking at this.

James Hunter putting out an article about Neil’s contract situation and position at the club, a scheduled press conference at 9 am being cancelled whilst journalists wait, the Athletic putting out an article saying the expectation on Wearside is that he will leave, Keith Downie saying he’s off to speak to Stoke and the bookies having him top of the pile. All whilst Neil makes thinly veiled comments about disgruntlement with recruitment speed and substance.
