An evening with Henry Blofeld

Not sure if he's visiting the North East, or if anyone is planning to go, but I took in the show tonight and wasn't impressed.

To his credit,.he did a full two hours, and I hope I'm as sprightly and coherent when I'm his age (ok, I'll be amazed if I even get to his age, but that's another matter), but the first hour was all about him recording the Real Marigold Hotel, when I suspect almost everyone in the audience was only there to hear about cricket. The second hour was all about John Arlott and Brian Johnston, nothing really about himself at all.

Not the worst night ever, but fairly disappointing

I saw him years ago and I was disappointed that there was very little talk about cricket. All I remember was Ian Fleming taking the name of the Bond villain from his family and something about Clive Dunn.

The rest was forgettable. He didn't even talk about the well known story of the County game he left a bit early only to find next day the team had been bowled out for 14.
