Bit off topic but 12.5% service charge slapped on some bars and all restaurants in London now it seems.

Even shit like just eat has a bloody service charge added on.

Friends have just got back from a week in NYC and say it is far more expensive than London now. They went to a basketball game where it was $30 for two cans of Brooklyn lager (including tip)

They are huge cans to be fair….and take your pick of decent beers, I was drinking an 8% goose island when last there.

Still expensive like, but then so’s a pint at Wembley

A lot of bartenders in Vegas (presume other areas as well) are Unionised so get a canny decent wage - but still expect a canny big tip

I've never tipped a percentage at the bar, usually just tip a few dollars based on how many drinks I ordered.

Last in the states 20 years ago. Two couples, we gave an extra dollar everyone we bought a round of 4 drinks. They seemed happy with that.

And that's a problem because you are on holiday and not likely to be back there very often

I tip, you become invisible at a bar if you don’t.

If no tip? I’ve seen bar staff following people outside asking what problem was. Not when it’s a dollar a beer, but $20 cocktails
