Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

Well you sort of killed your own argument there.

Why then can't we pay in installments?

People forget we signed hjelde and mundle with the Stewart monet, potentially are committed to signing Isidor.

We should see one player come in this week or what was the point in selling Clarke
I'm not arguing with anybody, just making an observation.

What money did they use to sign the players who the brought in after Stewart?

This. Honestly, do people just not think before they post?
He'll say but but rusyn was signed before Stewart was sold or words to that effect.

Obviously the club can't plan in advance apparently

If we can't use the Clark money to get at least two first team players then we shouldn't have sold him. It doesn't matter to me what we sell a player for as long as we sign two genuine first choice first team players with it.

I don't think we did that with stewarts money. But it does depend on how you assign that money.
We shouldn't wait until we have sold a player before we replace them.

So if they didn't have the Stewart money they wouldn't of spent one penny then, is that what you mean.

That's not even connected to what I said.

Two genuine first team players. What position they are is up to the management team. Obviously I want at least one striker atm but I didn't say replace directly. That's not as important. Just if we are buying low and selling high its only high enough if we can buy two genuine first team players. Other than that I don't care about the money
I think some people think that when we sell a player, we get given all the cash in one go. Then, we put it in the old teapot on the club mantle piece until we want to buy someone, then, we take some out😁

I'm not sure why this is ever even a conversation. Actual cash isn't the issue.

It is because that's the way you and others are talking😁. The "Clarke" transfer money, is just another income, not the transfer "kitty" to be spent on other transfers. Some income may be spent on new players, some may be spent to run the club and service the loan

No. They spent the Stewart money. It’s that simple and not hard to grasp.

They spent money last year to be fair to them. The recruitment was just poor.

I’m still hopeful we’ll get a couple of good ones through the door this week. Perfect time to attract people after an amazing start.

Yet we’ve still not really spent anything yet this summer.

We presumably had some sort of transfer budget set aside for this window (say €7m for arguments sake, could be less could be more) plus the Clarke money.

We’ve released or sold:
Taylor
Bishop
Dack
Evans
Embleton
Bass
Matete
Clarke

we’ve brought in:
Moore
Blondy
Browne
Poveda
Isodor

Sustainability remains very much the watchword but at present we’re at least €15m in profit this summer.

Yeah agree nothing spent yet. I’m leaning towards they knew Clarke was going and they’ve been viewing that deal to fund players they’re going to get this week.

Probably why they’ve got to last week and accepted £15+3mn. Could try and hold out for couple million more but then leave no time to get deals done.

All in all, I don’t think we had much of a budget at all this summer. Going to be an interesting week - I’m as nervous as I am optimistic to be honest.

We’ve got some money so there’s no excuse for not landing a couple of really good additions to the squad…without factoring likes of Ekwah or Aouchiche leaving as they’d need replacing too.

Bishop and Matete are both on loan, unsure if it's with an agreement in place to buy at the end of their loan or what.
