Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

Its supposedly £18m up front and £3m in add ons.
With Spurs's cut. It really depends on their exact percentage as there are various figures going around. Either way, we shouldn't be able to say we couldn't afford to bring in players. Unless the money has gone elsewhere. Watching this week very carefully. If we do the right business we could put ourselves in a great position. Need to clear out a good few too though.

It's £15m & £3m isn't it ? That's what Sky were saying today.
18M or 15M upfront is probably not going to make too much difference on our season. But I'd prefer us to be interested in a couple of 10M players than sniffing around the 1M and 2M players. Two really quality players in the right areas and we are good for top 2.

What would the wage bill be for 2 x £10m players ? Far more than our club would pay in this league I reckon.

My view, for what it’s worth, is that paying €3-4m for a 30 year old could buy you 10 -15 goals this season, which maybe enough to get you over the promotion line and all the riches that brings. If so, that’s a good investment in my book.
I know we generally don't pay for experienced players but, like you say, if he fires us up that price is a massive bargain, he'd be easy to sell if we didn't think he could cut it in the PL (and probably even if he can't in the Champ due to his Ligue 2 record) and we have a bunch of young strikers who could benefit massively from an old head to learn from.

it’s never going to happen. Stewart money covered last seasons signings. We have about 11-12 million for Clarke. I think we will be lucky to see a few 3-4 million pound players come in with that and the rest we will be told got used to improve current players contracts and free signing costs. We always got told Mundle was Clarke’s replacement and with Isdore being able to operate from the left the club will feel we are covered there or we may have seen some good money spend on a genuine replacement. Mundles performances pre season and his performance Saturday have cemented that I think.

Like most investments, there's no guarantee. It's a gamble.
At 30 y/o it's a tricky one because we won't make a profit and we'll have to pay him 3 years wages.
However, I reckon we'll sign him if the price is not too outrageous (if Mendy has owt to do with it 😆)

Did we? The club never said that did they?

Considering we are interested in Simic who was valued at 12m in December and is around 4-6m now and the fact our buy option for Isidor is €4m. I don’t think we are shopping in that market anymore
