Was it not Bent who did similar? And then snaked us a few years later when more money was available and he was promised international football.

I'd hate to see the reaction of this place/ twitter if Clarke acted in the same way...

I bet the club won’t let him leave. Not a great situation to be in for him. Signed a contract in verbal agreement was a bit naive. Should have had a clause inserted.

If they drop back down and he’s shown what he can do he’ll get another move, further up the food chain, think his career will progress rapidly from this point. If that does happen you can guarantee Ipswich will get a good return on their investment.

He signed a 2 year contract last year so that caen could get a fee for him this pre season and not leave for free.

Now they wont let him leave and have made hom train on his own!

Also chose to play for Caen instead of afcon duties as they were struggling and he was their main man.

Had verbal agreement to leave this pre season. Then owner change and nome of that counts!! Harsh on the lad really

If you can’t see what’s happening there’s no helping you. Whether you call it tight or not, these owners have made a commitment to setting their stall out & will not be financially irresponsible. Read Bob Murray’s book. Reid fucked us over by having lots of players who we paid money for on decent wages we couldn’t shift. That continued until we got relegated from the Premier League.

We’re basically not going to overpay on fees or wages & make it might seem like we’re “ambitious” to watch it all fall down in a few years time.

Doesn’t really count in our minds, but Stoke finished above us in 2009-10 and probably had half a squad made up of our former players. Danny Collins for sure.
