It’s a real shame given how much Mendy really wanted to come here. I think the club have done the right thing though by moving on after getting messed about by Caen. Let’s hope Isidor and Šimić can be a success!

Mendy wasn’t guaranteed instant impact and, if reports are true that they wanted north of £6m then it would probably be our entire budget on a single player. Yes, he’s had 3 very good season with regards to goals but, that’s it really in an 11 year career.
That is a lot of money for a player who would turn 31 during the season. When reports were that we were haggling over a million or so then I was all for paying it.

As much as I'd like Mendy also he'd hardly be instant impact either - if we signed him tomorrow it would be several weeks until we would see him in action, he hasn't played at all so far this season
