This could have been a lot easier for everyone. The man is under contract until ‘26. Caen don’t want to let him go for a song. Nobody is offering anything near what they want. The player is obliged to honor his contract and play. The ownership changed. They shouldn’t be expected to honor what the previous ownership apparently was going to go along with. This is all really simple. Turns out it was a distraction, not much more.
Ok, how much is the budget for the time machine?
I'd have Gelhardt back at this rate.
Clubs don't always get what they want for a player, especially if the player is determined to leave. If he's their first choice then I do think they should hold firm. You're not really making the argument.
Your argument is 'he's not worth the money'
We've known how much they want since the takeover. That was weeks ago. If he's not worth it find someone else
Good chance because their second choice striker is also trying to force a move away and is absent from training. This is nailed on for deadline day this
I wonder if at any stage Caen accept that both are leaving, and they're better off taking the cash now to re-invest than holding on until deadline day and ending up without a striker?Good chance because their second choice striker is also trying to force a move away and is absent from training.
It looks like they're actively trying to replace Mendy but with both their and our situation being as it is, I can't see how it would benefit either team to drag it out much longer.I wonder if at any stage Caen accept that both are leaving, and they're better off taking the cash now to re-invest than holding on until deadline day and ending up without a striker?
I can assure them, trying to go half a season without one isn't fun.
Nothing I’d love to see more. He’d be a great add IMO.Just not expecting us to come up w the cash required. Our model would by its nature be averse to any sort of bidding war.Couple of days ago now but IMO, albeit obliquely, the new owners have offered us an opportunity to come back with another bid. Since then they've been linked to looking for a replacement. Given the training/Not training moves from his side it looks like a deal can and will be made.
What we said ok you want 2.5m for Mendy and appearing desperate and weak, they said on second thoughts we want 4m. It's happens in football all the time?Fingers crossed mate. Hope he is.
I'm not suggesting wasting money. I'm suggesting buying a striker in plenty of time to help us progress this season. Why we still haven't got at least one striker in (even a loan) before the start of the season is crazy. It'll take any player 4 weeks to get fit and settled. A striker signing should have been made 4 weeks ago at the latest.
Is he any good?Good chance because their second choice striker is also trying to force a move away and is absent from training.
Funny that and yet he is seen as the clear answer to the centre forward problem........Is anyone else after him apart from us and the saudis?
Seems strange,I mean if he was that good surely.
So you won't mind if we sell off any of our players for less than what we think they're worth?Clubs don't always get what they want for a player, especially if the player is determined to leave. If he's their first choice then I do think they should hold firm.
You know what will happen nextIs anyone else after him apart from us and the saudis?
