Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

It's crazy to think that this itself would be considered a miracle.

The sad thing is, if we had two capable strikers, we'd be absolutely laughing. We've got some quality players, I just wish we'd go for it!

It's f#cking mental how much two proven strikers would improve this side.

This will likely be the last season we'll have our best players together before the squad gets broken up, and the club has to start again. Why not give ourselves the best opportunity of promotion while we have that core group of players.

We were a striker off promotion in the first year in the championship. Small outlay for the reward. Its just gonna get progressively harder to go up the way we are going. There is still time for some of our best players to go this season as well. Hopefully we hold onto them.

ALS just posted on newsnow and Mendys agent is blamimg the old hierarchy and not the new.
Yeah his agent is saying the old guys promised him he could leave and had an agreement in place but hasn’t mentioned it to the new ones, so basically it’s like Kyril agreeing a deal with someone for Clarke for say £10m and promising he can leave, then selling the club but not mentioning anything about the agreement to the new owners

i read it as the old guys said he could go "even freely" then when we came in, they didn't stick to that promise and tried to get a fee from us causing it to go on and now the new guys have took over making it even harder?

Everyone can see it bar the head of recruitment 🤷‍♂️

Massive season for one of the lads signed last time round then.

Time to step up to the plate Mayenda / Rusyn / Hemir etc etc etc etc.

If Clarke is off we are goosed.

That’s how I read it. Unless we bite the bullet and up our offer I can’t see this happening.

All conjecture but if they allegedly were looking for €4m and we offered €1m there must be a middle ground we can agree on somewhere. Hopefully if the French club sign a replacement soon then agreement can be reached.

Its basically like speaking to another club with no record of negotiations. Their valuation of Mendy may be way more than what what we're willing to pay.

I hope they are speaking to other targets as this one looks far from being done.

Guess we all read it differently.
Either way I'm doubtful this one will ever happen.
Maybe Juan will rock up with a south american striker who shoots us into the premier with his goals.

30 thousand british & common wealth soldiers killed in the liberation of Caen and this is how they repay us ;)

They simply aren’t capable, mate and I doubt they ever will be

I really hope we have a skilled coach in (forward) who is helping these lads, practicing, explaining, dedicating time to developing them.

There is no reason one of them cannot become an effective player, we are terrible at signing lads and then letting them disappear, or languish in the squad.

Why not invest Defoe and get him to develop our lads? Canny few tricks of the trade known by him, and he knows the club and area?. It is too easy to write lads off, not right way to do it.

Well, they did say they'd be getting some coaches in for RLB even went as far as to say they were interviewing.

Seems they missed out the part where they told him they'd already selected his backroom staff for him.

He hasn't - lots of the fees are not the actual values - the fees are the biggest possible outlay. It is well known among clubs that we pay very little upfront and its all incentive based. If you really think anyone pays 2 mill upfront for Hjelde, I have a bridge to sell you.
Agree with the post.

I find use of the term "up front" leads to misunderstandings in footy transfers. In everyday life, making a purchase "up front" means: paying the full amount at the point of sale, rather than in instalments. In football nearly all sizeable transfer fees are paid in instalments.

It's become common in the situation like this where a player is sold for a basic amount plus 'add ons', to refer to the basic amount as being "up front". It's not necessarily paid "up front"!!
It's just what you have to pay, regardless of whether the clauses are met.
