Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

Have they? Who have they sold this season for them to spend over 10m in this window? They spent a good amount of money last season when they sold Akpom, but looked to invest it wisely in a striker that scored goals, now they're adding to that.

We could sell Clarke and these wouldn't put double figure investment back into the side.
Akpom and Rogers last season, Spence and Tavernier the year before.

Not as drastic as Coventry but basically the same theory.

So who have they sold this season to keep spending?

Their one man band owner, hasn't got pockets anywhere near as deep as our lot, yet continually bankrolls HIS club and has done for many years.

You do realise you don’t have to spent the money in the same window you sell a player don’t you? In fact, the money will often come in a lot later. They made about £25m in transfer profit the previous 2 seasons.

£20 million profit over last two seasons

There is no rule about when you spend the money you make. Norwich have just sold Sara for £20-odd million, don't be surprised if they use that money outside of this window.

They'll spend over 10m this window, I'm sure they've spent that the season before as well as paying higher wages for players with a high transfer fee plus they'll have outgoings for older transfer fees.

They've got an owner who tries his best to get them challenging, ours don't. You really can't say otherwise when we fucked last season off and yet to have at leat one first team striker with the league kicking off in a few days. Completely unacceptable.

I’m not going to deny Gibson puts a lot of cash in, he always has done but where do you expect that difference in transfer income to come from? We’re at a net loss over the last 2 seasons where as they have +£25m so it makes sense that they’d have more capacity to spend.

Think you'll find most clubs run at a loss fella, Boro included. What they don't do is moan about it. Gibson could quite easily keep that cash made on transfers in the clubs pocket and say use the sustainability card, but the bloke would rather put money in and have a go.

There's unlikely to be a club in this league who are ran at a profit.

They sold Spence and Tavernier the season before last season for big money and the signings they made wouldn't have been close to the money they brought in for those two.

Last season they sold Akpom and Rogers for big money.

That's a good sign 🤞
He's downed tools, so they have to do something. If the reason for the delay was genuinely to try and persuade him to stay, but the fee had previously been agreed, then it probably is a good sign.
If on the other hand we are still miles apart on fee (most likely imo) it might not change much.

The only place I've read that a fee has been agreed is one poster on here (I know that apparently he's got some things right but any itk on here should be taken with a pinch of salt because they all get things wrong / say things have changed/ start guessing/ lying eventually) I've read elsewhere that we haven't agreed a fee and the club had leaked that a deal wasn't as close as social media was suggesting, albeit this was a while ago now.

I never mentioned sustainably but Boro have brought in more than £25m more than we have in the last 2 years which, regardless of owner investment, gives them more money to spend. Where do you expect that gap to come from? Straight out of KLDs back pocket?

It’d be interesting to knows who’s owners have had to put more cash into the clubs over the last few years, I haven’t checked but I’d put money on it being ours.
