Honestly think our interest is being overplayed so Sheff Wed look like they've fully beaten him to us.

Definitely something that happens, lots of clubs have seemed to enjoy the “ beat Sunderland to the player” headlines and I’m fairly sure we haven’t been seriously interested. I’d like to think we are interested in Ugbo though, him and Mendy would massively improve our striker options.

The fact that we've went so long without a striker is utterly shambolic, and going into the final week of pre-season no further forward is laughable. There's no other way to look at it

No further forward is a bit harsh- we have agreed a transfer fee with the players club, agreed terms with the player, the lad is desperate to join us and not training with his current team and doing everything he can to force the move.

The sensible money will be on him joining, so are we really “no further forward”.

If I get fined for not having a ticket one station before Euston on my commute, I’m going to argue that as I haven’t yet competed my journey, I haven’t committed an offence as technically, I haven’t left home?!?

Think we’ve now concluded that the club has not been at fault while trying to get Mendy over the line.

We agreed a fee with Caen and terms with Mendy prior to the takeover. The new owners are now trying to squeeze for better terms but Mendy released a statement criticising Caen for the way they are behaving and basically begging to join us.

Consensus is it’ll happen next week. Turns out the people who were abused for defending the club on this one were actually correct.

What with a decent draw against a good team and then this, a bad day for a lot of people on here.
