Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

Is there a middle ground here worth taking if you were the owners?

We’ve got 9 points already and it looks like we have a squad that will get us to the ‘hallowed’ ground of 50 points to remain in the championship. To be in the PL next season is likely going to need some serious investment. Buying the odd cheap player or two won’t achieve that.

We've won our first three games without conceding and your first thought is about us getting enough points to stay in the league?

Us bidding 5m for Cannon and being the only ones giving them a perm offer which is what they want leaves us in a good chance of getting him. What is this constant negativity saying we won't sign any, not just by you but by quite a few now. I'm sure yous all thought the squad was shite and wouldn't do fuck all and it's been shown all it needed was a style of play that suited them.

Constant hypothetical scenarios and changing of goalposts to moan about the board

It doesn't need serous investment at all - it just needs at least 1 solid number 9 who can give us a focal point. Ideally there are a couple of other areas i'd like to see us strengthen, but it certainly doesn't need serious money for us to compete at the top end.

Don't underestimate the benefit of simply having a coach who knows what he's doing, most of our main starters have proved in the past they are good enough

That’s not true. In the case of Mendy, it’s a case of accept the money or have a player that might not play. You lose their fee & pay wages for a player that can’t be arsed to play for you.

We’d have just waited for a week to sell Clarke otherwise & bumped the price up

Mendy will play if he doesn't come here. He's a ligue 2 player totally different
