Tbf to Neil apparently he repeatedly had his best players sold while he was at Preston so keeping them around mid table is probably a good job under the circumstances.

Alternatively, he's won promotion twice and looks to have done a good job with little to no money at PNE while they sold his better players.

You could argue the same about Keane. One promotion, failed in his second job and hasn't had a job in management since 2011, why would he now be a success?
