Alex Neil - New head coach confirmed

Alex Neill is an upgrade on the last three coaches you've had, imo. If Keane was interested in the job enough to have some kind of dialogue, but wasn't motivated enough unless he got enough pieces of silver, you have dodged a bullet.

Personally i don't think it had anything to do with money. An inept bloke that talks the talk for me.

Another way of looking at it is they are two divisions above us.

Yep if you are someone who accepts the current situation, which is the lowest point in our entire history

Any Sunderland fan that regards Norwich as a step us from us needs a good shake - they could maybe go for a pint with Donald and Salmon Pants

First, let's hope Alex Neil gets appointed, if the last 11 days or so has proved, don't count on anything until the contract is signed.

We probably won't know what happened with Keane until another book comes out, the easy option is to kick the club but we don't have a clue how this all played out.

Alex Neil wasn't anywhere near the top of my list of possible new managers but I've only heard good things about him today. I've moved on from Keane and quite excited about Alex Neil now.

You can tell from social media, especially twitter that 50% of the fans - and more - dont want Neil. As soon as Sunderland dont win it'll kick off.

Norwich city and PNE arent Sunderland. the expectations here are enormous and he'll struggle to cope. He must think all of his birthdays have come at once. I'll give him 12 months or less. He will be a dead man walking if we dont get promotion this season.

What about it?

It’s funny how until today he had maybe one or two poster saying he would be good, now there are quite a few. Some will put up with anything the club gives them.

I don't think any other manager's been mentioned really aside from Keane over the last week to be fair, don't think that should be a deciding factor in people rating/not rating him.

He's a good coach IMO, was my choice when we appointed Grayson. Would have liked a loud personality or someone with a lot of charisma this time around because it seems you rarely succeed at Newcastle or Sunderland if you aren't one of those.

Struggling to give a fuck any more to be honest. Sack a manager, lose more games, radio silence about an appointment, clearly (IMO) given up on promotion this year.

This is a problem with me, specifically. I'm not a football fan, I couldn't give a shit about a random game (at any level) unless the lads are playing. I don't pay attention to results other than ours and those directly affecting our league position - couldn't even tell you who's top of the premier league off the top of my head, for example.

So, when I say I have no clue who this bloke is, what his credentials are, etc. etc. and therefore can't remotely get excited, I know that's on me.

So be it. If it's true, let's see what happens on Saturday. If it's not, let's see what happens on Saturday.

Keane turned us down. It wasn't to be. Neil is the next best Option. Good luck to him if he's announced as manager. A couple of wins and we'll all be behind him.

We're in League One. We've been in League One for 5 seasons. We're hardly going to be a pull for most managers. Especially if their CV includes Premier League teams, or 'teams as big as us'.

He did well at Norwich, who were in a higher division than us at the time, and unsurprisingly still are.
