People seem to be ignoring what he did at Hamilton prior to going to Norwich. Got them promoted in his first season in charge and then got them up to 3rd in the Scottish Prem (level on points with Celtic in 2nd) when he left halfway through the next season. The predictable response will be how shit the Scottish league is but it’s all relative, Hamilton are a small club in that shit league so to be where they were when he left was a major achievement.

Arguably a better CV than Keane and a massive upgrade on LJ. I wanted him after Parkinson but was told on here that he wouldn’t leave Preston to drop down a division. These are probably the same people now saying Sunderland are too good for him!

When he fist came in at preston he was decent , wasn’t backed when needed and then things turned sour and we were glad to see the back of him

Good steady appointment for you, couple of promotions under his belt, and most of his games as a manager have been in the championship

Think he will be a good appointment

All of what you said makes sense if he came in the day after LJ went, it’s just irrelevant at this point, unless he gets us promoted then the 6 points lost in the last two games whilst posing about doing X interview rounds with Keane will be pin-pointed as the reason we’ve failed to go up

Watching an interview he did during lockdown last year with a Norwich fan about his time there and career before & after.

Speaks very pragmatically and doesn't come across dull at all.

As much as I'm hurting and gutted Keane has turned us down, if we got Neil, won our next 2 or 3 games in a row with a bit of organisation and discipline then the mood will swing back to being positive.

Preston fan in peace.

Alex Neil would be a great appointment for you. He was probably one of the most tactially astute managers in the league, he would often change systems pre and mid game in order to combat the other teams strength. We was one of the best pressing teams in league under him.
He developed our young players and improved them into much better players. Ultimately he was let down from the owner, our top goal scorer sold in January when we went on to finish 1 point outside of the players. He got us competing with one of the smallest budgets in the league. If he had been backed properly then he’d still be with us and we’d be doing a lot better.
This is exactly what we've needed tbf! LJ was the complete opposite of this.

Right fuck it I'm in for Neil! The disappointment of Keane has turned into optimism for Alex Neil.

I'm still f***ing raging at our board mind but that's a different story

Happier?

It doesn’t matter. The sings have been there if you look around the club. No effort to fix the pitch, can’t keep a club shop open, can’t have match day sales, no plan when the manager is sacked.

Anything that requires ambition is a no go with these small time Lower league wankers. Alex Neil and co are all perfect candidates for this joke of a club.

Alex Neil would be a coup as things stand. A significant upgrade on Johnson.
