Won’t get any argument me on that front marra. The owner made a rod for his own back by liking posts about Keane.
No one to blame but themselves.
No chance. Everton approached him, and he rejected the interview invitation.I wonder if it ever crossed anyone's mind to go and ask Wayne Rooney if he would be interested. The work he is doing at Derby is bordering on a miracle and if he succeeds in keeping them up he should be a candidate for Manager of the Year. I think Neil if appointed sounds and feels about right, hope he if gets the job he brings a bit of good fortune with him because there's none available at our club and he's going to need it.
Tbf I didn’t want Keane back. I would have probably preferred a more progressive appointment, but in terms of a realistic appointment with experience of the level above and someone who’s won promotion via a play off, he’s the best we’ll get.Sounds as positive as we're likely to get. Mind the bit about struggling to break down teams that have a deep defensive line is a major worry given that's how about 80% of the teams in this division play against us
We’d all take that now, although if he can get us up with the state of the current team it will be some achievement. He’s got a record of instant results and promotions. Took Hamilton up in his first season in charge and took over Norwich in the January with them outside the play-offs and took them up as well. Won 17 of his first 25 games there to win promotion.
Because they thought Keane would come
Fair point mate but sometimes you just have to ask the question. No chance. Everton approached him, and he rejected the interview invitation.
He’s made it extremely clear all season that he wants to see it out with Derby, and try to keep them up.
Because Derby are a more stable alternative than us?I wonder if it ever crossed anyone's mind to go and ask Wayne Rooney if he would be interested. I dont believe it was ever going to be Keane. They've got into a position and tried to calm it and probably gave him a poor offer ao he knocks it back. They would have known his demands from the start though. If they were not acceptable then you move on. It would appear we’ve tried to negotiate for well over a week, in the hope things change.
Wouldn’t have been against it myself! We need someone who will demand respect, and also ideally has played/managed at a high level and got results.Fair point mate but sometimes you just have to ask the question.
Yet the games we struggle in are when teams get at us.Sounds as positive as we're likely to get. Mind the bit about struggling to break down teams that have a deep defensive line is a major worry given that's how about 80% of the teams in this division play against us
My concern about the play off thing is that I always see them as a bit of a gamble. One bad performance, one daft red card or poor refereeing decision can decide the games, so I'm not sure having been lucky enough to win one (or two in his case) really suggests he's a good shout for any upcoming ones. Maybe not realistic with the teams he's had but I'd feel a lot more comfortable with a manager who has got a team winning consistently enough to get top two. Still, fans at former clubs seem to think he's decent so I guess we'd need to give it a go and hope it works. Enthusiasm will be at an all time low mind, it's not fair on him but he'll have a job just to get a fair section of the fans interested again. Got no faith in the direction this clubs going. If he improves us and we're in the play offs I'll no doubt allow optimism to get the better of me mindTbf I didn’t want Keane back. No tin hat needed marraTin hat on but I think he could do a canny job.
I wouldn’t worry about too much. With us it was mainly because we didn’t have the quality of players. We lacked creativity badly. Your squad is definitely good enough.Sounds as positive as we're likely to get.
