Alex Neil - New head coach confirmed

He was then in a division with tons of clubs throwing money at it in desperation to get promoted – some of whom, as we’ve seen, have since found that this has put their very existence in doubt.

He did a really good job with Norwich. He plays attacking, quick football. Good man manager and teams are well organised. Norwich fans – who’ve had their share of s**te too and also love a moan – think he’s great. I know plenty of them.

Said here before, one ST holder there told me that he’s a quick learner. Makes good in-game tactical adjustments (imagine!). And if they came up short against a team once, it wouldn’t happen again. He is young (40). Experienced. Has managed in the Prem. It went pear-shaped there but that’s because they didn’t back him financially and owners were happy for Norwich to do the yo-yo each season.

I know he will feel disappointing after the Keane speculation. But I think a L1 club getting him now can consider themselves pretty fortunate. My heart sank when McCann was mentioned. Neil? Well, I have far better vibes about him.
Agreed.
Norwich mate likes him and reckons their fans do but six players went out clubbing after a function when they’d been told not too. Three apologised and got picked, three refused to and got dropped. Club eventually sided with the players who ignored club instructions.
Preston weren’t going any higher than they already where. I’m amazed at the posters who seem to think they should’ve been.

Not miraculously, not over night but I reckon he’d get us up comfortably next season, assuming he’s backed.
He’s got a record of instant results and promotions. Took Hamilton up in his first season in charge and took over Norwich in the January with them outside the play-offs and took them up as well. Won 17 of his first 25 games there to win promotion.

Most of our fans know fuck-all and need to sit back. I'll trust the management on this one rather than the soppy, nostalgia-addled middle-aged baldies on this one. They'll have done their due process and if they believe that Neil is the man for the jerb, then I'll be behind him.
You trust this management team to carry out due process? Says more about you than us baldies

They're all uninspiring, tepid yes men. Absolute bullshit from the club.

Think you'll find the Preston fans will disagree about the attacking quick football
Yes man? He was sacked at Norwich for refusing to reinstate three of six players who’d disobeyed his orders and gone clubbing and then refused to apologise to the club, fans, owners and team mates. The club told him to start picking them and he said no. I remember Fergie publically backing him after his sacking.

I wonder if it ever crossed anyone's mind to go and ask Wayne Rooney if he would be interested. The work he is doing at Derby is bordering on a miracle and if he succeeds in keeping them up he should be a candidate for Manager of the Year. I think Neil if appointed sounds and feels about right, hope he if gets the job he brings a bit of good fortune with him because there's none available at our club and he's going to need it.

It's like that box of chocolates you get for Christmas where you end up with the shitty ones left and it's a case of picking the less shitty one, so you pick the less shitty one, knowing you'll not enjoy it anyway.

42% win ratio (roughly) in the championship. Still relatively young, has a preferred coaching team he can bring in and a championship promotion on his CV. Used to working with small budgets and overachieving with them.
