Alex Neil - New head coach confirmed

Not sure what this "farce" narrative is grounded in. Do you think clubs have candidates on hold, having conducted negotiations and everything beforehand, interviewing them while there was another person in charge, etc.? I think the club has handled things well - brought in what looks like strong additions, pulled the trigger on Johnson at the right time, and started interviewing right away. The reason why it took so long - it seems to me - is that they had a tough decision to make regarding their potential candidates. The club really can't win on these matters, because the fans are convinced that we're run by inept, complacent, unambitious people from top to bottom. I think the decisions that have been made shows that this isn't the case. If we hadn't lost the two games following Johnson's sacking, there would be no talk of the club handling this matter badly.
That’s a big if mate it’s cost us a chance of automatic promotion and the farce relates to the amateur way they went about it, the timing of the sacking the messing about with Keane they should have had the candidates lined up given they came out and said it was a number of things that led to sacking so it could have been planned allot better. Anyway I think Neil is a good choice and the favs will give him their backing

You could be right but, if that is the case, why did he talk to the club?
I mean in terms of the club offering him the job.

He didn't fit the structure for a start and isn't the type of Personality they'd want in calling out all the shite. Speakman did that ad hoc interview before donny game as they'd seen the excitement and knew they were in trouble imo.

Seems a bit strange. Although the narrative is to slag the club, and they haven't done a good job, it would take zero research for Keane to understand the structure of the club. You scenario leaves equal blame between Keane and the club. His ego must be massive to think he'd walk in and they'd dismantle everything they have put in place since buying the club.

Alex Neil isn't the problem. Its the amateurish nature of the whole saga.

If we see a marked improvement in the near future, then booting LJ was the correct decision. The hunt for a new manager has been a farce whatever happens though, and leading the fans on, a disgrace. Particularly as there has been a facade of professionalism since KLD and Speakman showed up, we trusted them (foolishly) that things might have changed.

If the team is still in complete dissaray with Neil then it's clearly a signal of something deeper rather than do with which unlucky mug is in the dugout at the time.

Is Neil at the club today ....doing training ?

Surprised there is still no announcement yet ...only a matter of time I'm sure but ...
Surely they haven't fucked this one up to??

Hi everyone,

I was hoping yesterday was a nightmare, sadly not. It’s not unfair or inaccurate to state the club is in an utter mess.

1 The club could not convince RK to come, Keane has looked, listened and said no thanks, can you blame him!
2 Transfer deadline signed more wingers instead of bringing in cover at CH and CF.Schoolboy error in allowing Flanagan to leave before getting a replacement. Please don’t tell me Roberts and Clarke are cover for Stewart, they aren’t, Defoe had played 8 mins of football.
3 The clap trap about Long term Plan, Process, Data Driven is corporate speke, the sacking of LJ makes a mockery of what has been previously said.
4 KS ex U23’s at Birmingham is our DOF the largest club outside PL, out of his depth, who else did we interview for such an important position? Data Driven my arse.
5 Club aren’t prepared to tell its supporters the shareholding status in the club. Maddox ie SD CM still to pay back the parachute money they used to buy the club.
6 Neill could only given to the end of the season, so they aren’t totally convinced then!
7 The pitch is a disgrace, biggest club in the league and we have probably the worst playing surface.

We deserve so so much better, I have never ever felt so deflated in a club that I live and die for. The club is going to lose a vast amount of its supporters and possibly forever.

Whilst I agree with a lot of what you've said, I don't think the sacking of Johnson makes a mockery of the long term plan stuff tbh. The whole idea of a director of football / sporting director model is that its easy to replace the head coach without affecting the long term plans. In theory the head coach role is less secure than a traditional managers role because replacing them shouldn't mean that you need a whole new squad of players to suit a manager who plays a different style and wants his own people in.

In practice we haven't done it well. It hasn't been the seamless transition, we haven't necessarily gone for someone in a similar mould to Johnson (especially when we targeted Keane) and with the sporting director being a very powerful person at the club I think it's absolutely fair to suggest the one we've got might not be up to the job. That's a different debate and it'll take a lot for me to regain any faith in speakman after the last few weeks, but I don't think Johnson leaving on its own suggests anything about the long term plan stuff

Absolutely, not arsed who's to blame personally. All I care about is winning games and the board have tossed automatics away while fannying about.

That's my exact thought.

Been here already this week. Where's the announcement?
