Bit Harsh on Morgan, he scored 2 excellent hundreds, and was dropped after the Pakistan away series, where literally all our batsmen failed, he was made the scapegoat.
Hales is scoring very big in the county game, 600+ runs in a month, be interesting if he keeps it up
Bar this season Morgan had played something like one first class game in 2 years

Don't blame the lad, more his choice as he was in the IPL last year, you shouldn't just pick players based on county stats like, you pick players who show they can do it at international level. Play a lot of cricket around the world ,and Morgan is someone who can score runs on different pitches. Not saying he should be in the side right now, but he was a bit unlucky to be dropped and is still a class player IMO
Fair enough. But I don't pick a test side on hit and giggle cricket.
He looks suspect outside off stump IMHO

I don't think morgan is right for test cricket.
Hales for me seems to be a player who could develop into a marvellous test cricketer he has that gayle,sehwag,warner mold of aggressive opener.
We've missed that type of player since trescothick had his issues.
16 tests, 700 runs at 30.43, 2 hundreds, 3 fifties. Last test was Feb 2012.
Not sure he should have been discarded so quickly. Only 27 too
30.43 is hardly great is it?
No, but it's not terrible - couple of big innings and his average is up around 40.

In this day and age of averages of 45+ it's pretty poor really.
Don't think he's a test player to be honest - although an ODI team with the likes of him, Hales, Vince, Stokes, Ali Jordan etc is something to get excited about - if the selectors actually pick these players of course.
