Alex Hales - Retired

Seemed a pillock but the three year exile did seek excessive. The fact that if bairstow didn't get injured he wouldn't have ever returned either so can see why he may prefer to still to the 20/20 money train that he made good use of in that time

Clearly wasn't part of the 50 over team plans so has done the only thing he could really and gone out gratefully

Bit disappointing considering he has not long been back in the fold

Assuming he has got one of those Annual contracts
I’m a little shocked to be honest. It was less than a year ago he personally rang Rob Key to push his case for England selection. So for him to have played one tournament and then jacked it in seems odd to me. Especially with another WC a few weeks away.

Suspect he's got a better offer or been told he won't be in the upcoming ODI squad (or both).

Shame about the last few years as I loved watching him bat.

I find these decisions really really strange

Hales will play till he is 40, and probs at a very high level. He only plays T20 cricket, England basically play non apart from world cups

There is a T20 world cup in Windies and USA in like just over a year, why would you not want to play in that? there is no other cricket going on at the time either.
Wonder whether he got the nod that he won’t be in the World Cup squad…?!

Which one? He has had no interest in 50 over cricket for years, am pretty sure he would have turned down the offer anyway.
